What Does (C.S.A) Mean?
Community Supported Agriculture (C.S.A) is a way to link farmers directly to their customers. It is an arrangement to buy food that is grown or produced by local farms and businesses. Typically, farmers receive funds from their members early in the year to purchase materials to grow the crops; members then receive the produce throughout the weeks of the CSA.
LaPorte's Harvest Moon Farm has chose to run our program a bit different than the standard (C.S.A) program where members pre-purchase a “share” of the harvest in the spring when the farm incurs the bulk of its costs. We know from our own experience before we began our farm, that the upfront cost of joining a C.S.A often hinders membership.
Although we still incur early expenses, our program has been tailored to be efficient, affordable, & modest in nature. Our gardens maximize space, Harvest Boxes are up-cycled from a local source, and produce is delivered just as mother nature provided them. We keep it simple and have been able to sustain our program due to our loyal customer base who have stayed true to their financial commitment. Due to this mutual trust, we offer our program without any pre-purchase required. At this time, members strictly pay on purchase choosing between a Weekly or Bi-Weekly pickup/delivery schedule.

Why Should I Become A Member?
In today’s world, there are many steps between farm and table. Produce often goes from the farm, to a warehouse, on a truck, to another warehouse, to the store, then finally to your kitchen. Much of the produce found in grocery stores travels thousands of miles! This all leads to the consumer paying more for not so fresh food. Because our produce is grown locally and delivered Weekly or Bi-Weekly, you are receiving food that is truly “farm fresh” when it arrives at your table. In addition, you incur a lower cost without the middleman involved and 100% of your dollars is invested in your local community.
Another benefit of being involved in a C.S.A is the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with us as your farmers & a sense of connection to our farm. Upon purchase, LaPorte's Harvest Moon Farm was truly a dream come to fruition for our family. We are so very thankful for the all around goodness our farm provides for our family and now yours. By joining our Direct Grow Program, you have firsthand knowledge of exactly where your food comes from. Furthermore, you are supporting farmers who are committed to providing you with quality, affordable, farm fresh products that are cultivated with green agricultural practices that will sustain our land.
